Facsimile Signatures

Missouri state law authorizes officials of political subdivisions of the state, including school districts to use facsimile signatures to sign documents.  This is an important option when school district officials must sign a large number of documents, such as teaching contracts and employee paychecks.  However, facsimile signatures must be properly filed with the Secretary of State.  The Office of Secretary of State provides a form for registration of facsimile signatures.

The following resource information is available:

  •   Section 105.274  Facsimile signature on public securities, instruments, or
                                  contracts, effect.
  •   Section 105.276  Fraudulent use of facsimile signature or seal, penalty.
