Dr. Trezek has more than twelve years of experience working as a cross-categorical special education teacher and a teacher for students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing in the K-12 public school setting.  She is currently an assistant professor of special education and the director of the Reading Specialist: Reading and Learning Disabilities program at DePaul University in Chicago.  Her research interests focus on reading instruction for beginning and struggling readers with a particular emphasis on investigating the role that phonemic awareness and phonics play in the development of reading skills for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
