We will fund up to 30 scholarships for teachers, counselors, and administrators from public school districts to participate in the October 4, 2010 - November 15, 2010, session of the online course, Into Adulthood: Transition to Work for Individuals with Autism.
This course is offered by Virginia Commonwealth University's Rehabilitation Research and Training Center on Workplace Supports and Job Retention October 4, 2010 - November 15, 2010. Participants will gain an in-depth understanding of transition planning for youth with Autism. The scholarship will cover the cost of the tuition. Participants are responsible for the purchase of the textbook Autism & the Transition to Adulthood: Success Beyond the Classroom by Wehman, Datlow-Smith and Schall. The book can be purchased through amazon.com for $23.07.
Administrators may submit names, email addresses, and telephone numbers of teachers/counselors/staff they wish to recommend by September 17, 2010, to webreplyspeep@dese.mo.gov. Please be sure to include the school district name.
