MO HealthNet has notified us of a unique grant opportunity for school districts operating School-Based Health Centers to expand their capital needs and support the purchase of moveable equipment. A School-Based Health Center is located in or near a school facility; is organized through a school or health provider relationship; is administered by a sponsoring authority (i.e., school board); provides primary health services to children in accordance with state and local laws; and, satisfies other requirements a state may establish for the operation of such a clinic.
The first round of grant applications are due December 1, 2010. For more information about the grant, application instructions, and sample forms, please visit: http://www.hrsa.gov/grants/apply/assistance/sbhcc/.
The Department of Social Services has arranged for a grant writer, Nancy Hoffman, to assist districts in completing the application on a first-come, first-served basis. Nancy will be available to answer questions by calling 573-619-9739.
