A workshop on Facilitating Friendships and Positive Self-Esteem in Children and Youth with Sensory Impairments will be held Friday, April 15, 2011, from 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Missouri School for Blind (MSB), St. Louis, Missouri.

Maurice Belote from California Deafblind Services will provide information on ways to facilitate school and community participation and build positive self-esteem.  Participants will learn strategies for building communication systems that support making and keeping friends and using "webs of friendship" to identify social connections as they are now and explore ways to expand these circles of friendship and support.  Factors to consider when exploring local community resources will also be shared.
