Missouri State University's free Cochlear Implant Consultation services are available to support Missouri school district personnel in meeting the needs of their students with cochlear implants. Weekly consultation services are available to any Missouri school district serving students with cochlear implant (PK-12) on Fridays between 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Off site consultation services, e-mail, or phone (individuals and conference) contact are available to all public school districts in Missouri. In addition, school personnel and students can come to the clinic. Parents may be included in the consultation at the discretion of the school district.
Actual information that is shared with school district personnel is case-specific; however, some topic areas include: device functioning, speech and auditory development, educational development, modes of communication, etc.
If you have a student with a cochlear implant and would like more information or to utilize the consultation services, please contact Jill Oswalt at JillOswalt@missouristate.edu.
