Intended Audience: Special Education Directors, District Test Coordinators, and District Information Technology Coordinators
Date: July 18, 2013
Missouri is a state partner in the Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Alternate Assessment Consortium. The assessments will primarily be delivered in the form of short testlets, or groups of 3-5 items, which are designed to be instructionally relevant. The DLM assessments will be field tested in 2013-14 and will be operational in 2014-15.
Missouri has the opportunity for some of our educators to serve on one of three panels that will review the testlets that are being created this summer. Serving on one of the panels can provide educators in your district with a unique, hands-on opportunity with the new assessment items. The reviews will be focused on these three topics:
1. Content and instructional relevance
3. Bias and sensitivity
You are invited to nominate educators from your district to volunteer to serve on these three DLM testlet review panels. Dynamic Learning Maps is seeking educators with a broad array of perspectives and backgrounds, especially educators with content expertise in English language arts or mathematics and in education and assessment for students with the most significant cognitive disabilities. Persons from different cultural experiences or with disabilities are encouraged to volunteer.
More details about the expert review process, panelist responsibilities, and time commitment are provided at http://dese.mo.gov/se/se-admin-flyer-test-item-rev.pdf. Volunteers should complete the application/survey included in the flyer at the link listed above. We invite volunteers to complete this survey no later than July 26. There is no monetary compensation for participation.
DLM will notify volunteers who are selected to serve on a panel and will send those volunteers an online background survey to complete. DLM staff will provide training via webinars and reviews will take place from the convenience of each panel member's internet connected computer.
Questions about the external review process should be directed to email@example.com.
Please forward this information to any educators in your district who would qualify and be interested.
