MPACT, the statewide parent training and information center that serves parents of children with all disabilities, is hosting a one-day Summit designed for students who have disabilities, special education transition personnel and student teams, family members, case managers, VR counselors, and Centers for Independent Living personnel.  The 4th Annual Tools for Life Transition Summit will be held at the Truman State Office Building, Jefferson City, MO, on October 9, 2012.  Summit sessions are focused on preparing youth for transition to postsecondary education, employment, independent living, and community experiences.  The Summit is free for students and professionals or parents attending with them.  Presenters include Governor's Council on Disability, DESE, DMH, VR, MOAHEAD, OCR, Missouri Assistive Tech, PACER Center, and MPACT.

Sessions include, among others:

 - Self-Determination

 - VR 101

 - SSI, Ticket to Work and Pass Plan

 - Soft Skills for Employment

 - Transition Services for Youth

 - Bullying Prevention

 - Preparing for College
