Subject: Special Education Cooperatives List

Intended Audience: Special Education Directors, Financial Administrators, Superintendents
Date: November 23, 2011
The Division has posted a list of districts that are members of K-12 special education cooperatives across the state. The list identifies the name of the cooperative, member districts, contact person for the cooperative, and the fiscal agent district. The purpose of a cooperative agreement is to enable school districts to pool their resources. Districts form cooperatives for different reasons; some provide a variety of special education services, especially therapies and consultative services that are limited in the serving area. Others focus on specific disabilities or share a Director of Special Education.
Some of these Cooperatives have formed due to "Start-Up" grants provided by us.
The Division encourages districts interested in forming a cooperative to review the list and contact current cooperative directors and/or member districts for more information on cooperative operational procedures.
We would like to ensure that the list we have posted is a complete and current list of all K-12 special education cooperatives in Missouri. This list does not include ECSE Cooperatives.
Please review the list and email Special Education Finance at spedfunding@dese.mo.gov IF one of the following applies:
- Your district is not on the list but IS operating a K-12 special education cooperative.
- Your district is on the list but is NOT operating a K-12 special education cooperative.
